Why the last mile matters
It doesn't matter how tightly the warehouse process is organized, how fast picking was done or how neatly the loading process runs. This is precisely why the most questions arise in the last mile. Where is the shipment now? Is it on its way? Will it arrive today or tomorrow? And what if something goes wrong en route? For customers, every package matters. If they're not properly informed, they'll start asking questions. And that's logical: nobody wants to wait without knowing where they stand.
Insight into every shipment
To manage this properly, we've built the last mile into software. As soon as a route departs, it's clear which packages are in transit, with which driver and on which route. Statuses are updated in real time, so planners and customer service always know the current situation. That brings calm to operations. Not because everything always runs perfectly, but because there's always insight into what's happening. The difference isn't in "never having problems", but in knowing what's going on and what you can communicate.
Handling deviations en route
If delays, damage or deviations occur en route, they're registered immediately. Not at the end of the day, but at the moment it happens. This keeps information reliable and allows customers to be proactively informed rather than reassured after the fact. This prevents scattered phone calls, unnecessary escalations and after-the-fact discussions. Everyone works with the same information and there's no room for assumptions.
