Chatbot
An automated conversational system that interacts with users via text, powered by AI language models to provide natural and relevant answers.
What is a chatbot?
A chatbot is a software application capable of conducting conversations with users, typically through a chat window on a website or in an application. Modern chatbots are powered by large language models (LLMs) and can understand complex questions, remember context, and generate nuanced answers. This goes far beyond the simple rule-based chatbots of the past that could only respond to pre-set patterns.
How does a chatbot work?
A modern AI chatbot processes a user's question through a language model that analyzes the intent and context of the message. Through a RAG pipeline, the question is compared with company-specific documents in a vector database, retrieving relevant information. The language model combines this retrieved knowledge with its own language capabilities to formulate an accurate and natural answer. The entire process takes place on the server and typically takes only a few seconds.
Example
A healthcare institution deploys a Wabber chatbot on its internal portal. Employees can ask questions in natural language about protocols, forms, and procedures. The chatbot searches the internal knowledge base through the RAG pipeline and immediately provides the correct answer, including a link to the relevant document. Where employees previously spent minutes searching through folders and systems, they now find the right protocol in seconds.
Why is a chatbot important?
An AI chatbot provides immediate added value: customer questions are answered 24/7, employees find information faster, and routine tasks are automated. Wabber offers two variants: a personal chat app for internal use and a chat widget that can be integrated into your website. All data is processed on our own hardware in the Netherlands, guaranteeing complete privacy and data sovereignty.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a chatbot and a virtual assistant?
A chatbot is typically focused on a specific domain or task, such as answering customer questions or searching a knowledge base. A virtual assistant is more broadly applicable and can perform multiple tasks, such as managing calendars and initiating actions. Wabber's chatbots are domain-specific and trained on your own business data.
Can a chatbot learn my business data?
Yes, through a RAG pipeline, the chatbot is enriched with your company-specific knowledge. Documents, manuals, product information, and procedures are indexed in a vector database. The chatbot searches this database with every question and bases its answers on your own content, ensuring answers are always relevant and up-to-date.
Where is the chatbot data stored?
At Wabber, all chatbot data is stored and processed on our own private cluster in the Netherlands. Your data never leaves the country and is not shared with external cloud providers. This is essential for organizations in sectors with strict privacy requirements, such as healthcare and government.
